A roller coaster derailed at a Swedish amusement park and, according to the operator, at least one person was killed. Several people were also injured, amusement park “Gröna Lund” in the capital Stockholm reported Sunday against the Swedish news agency TT. Police initially only confirmed that there were “multiple” injuries. The severity of the injuries is not yet known.
The park was evacuated to facilitate rescue efforts. There was even a helicopter present. An SVT reporter who happened to be in the park at the time of the accident reported, “The car derailed and crashed. There were people in it.”
According to the park, the roller coaster “Jetline” hurtles at speeds of up to 90 kilometers per hour on a track that is 800 meters long and up to 30 meters high. (zis/SDA)
