The suspect was arrested on Thursday evening in Lottstetten DE, a neighboring municipality of Jestetten, in a parking lot by a special unit, the police headquarters in Freiburg and the prosecutor’s office in Waldshut-Tiengen announced on Friday.

According to initial findings, the 39-year-old Latvian national entered the country as a laborer and worked at a construction site in the region. Traces of the man’s DNA were found at the scene of the crime and on the waist of the crime, a solid piece of wood.

He allegedly inflicted fatal head injuries on the 31-year-old Swiss on the night of June 9 with the piece of wood. The man, from the canton of St. Gallen, spent the night on the banks of the Rhine near Jestetten.
