The German police have arrested the alleged perpetrator of the murder of Jestetten DE. It concerns a 39-year-old man from Latvia. He is said to have killed a 31-year-old man from the canton of St. Gallen about two weeks ago.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday evening in Lottstetten DE, a neighboring municipality of Jestetten, in a parking lot by a special unit, the police headquarters in Freiburg and the prosecutor’s office in Waldshut-Tiengen announced on Friday.
According to initial findings, the 39-year-old Latvian national entered the country as a laborer and worked at a construction site in the region. Traces of the man’s DNA were found at the scene of the crime and on the waist of the crime, a solid piece of wood.
He allegedly inflicted fatal head injuries on the 31-year-old Swiss on the night of June 9 with the piece of wood. The man, from the canton of St. Gallen, spent the night on the banks of the Rhine near Jestetten.
According to the announcement, the urgent suspect will be brought before the investigating judge on Friday. (saw/sda)
