There has been no trace of the Titan submarine in the North Atlantic since Sunday. The oxygen on board has now been used up – the five occupants are probably dead by now.
Although ships, planes and diving robots have been searching for the Titan for days, a company is now making serious accusations against the US Coast Guard. The reason: much valuable time would have been lost in the rescue of the submarine. At least that’s what a company that wanted to help find the submarine claims, according to the “Daily Mail.”
The company’s vehicle could have dived more than 6,000 meters
According to this, private search and rescue groups with the most modern equipment would have been waiting since Monday for approval from the US Coast Guard to participate in the rescue of the submarine. However, they were not allowed to do so until Thursday.
The company would even have a special device that can penetrate to a depth of more than 6,000 meters. The Titan can dive to a depth of 4000 meters, and the Titanic, whose wreck was the goal of the expedition, lies on the seabed at a depth of 3800 meters.
However, the company, whose application was only approved on Thursday, is not an isolated case. Other companies would also not have received help in rescuing the submarine: As the newspaper writes, the Coast Guard only published a call for support from private groups on Wednesday evening.
Expert denounces “institutional arrogance”.
This approach meets with incomprehension among professionals. An expert close to the rescue mission described the mission leadership’s behavior as “institutional arrogance, politics and incompetence”. They simply failed to get as many teams as possible to rescue the submarine as quickly as possible. And this despite the fact that “everyone in the search and rescue community” offered to do their best immediately after the missing submarine became known.
