A man in England has been sentenced to 24 weeks in prison for capturing a young seagull and masturbating while kneeling over it. In addition, the 40-year-old is no longer allowed to keep pets for ten years, the British news agency PA reported on Wednesday from the courtroom in South Tyneside. The man had previously confessed that he had caused the animal unnecessary suffering.
The incident took place in August 2022 in the northeastern English coastal town of Sunderland. Surveillance footage showed the man catching a young seagull, dropping his pants and masturbating over the bird while watching animal porn on his phone. Then he gave the bird a light kick.
According to his lawyer, the man is a heavy drinker and does not remember the incident very well. But he accepts that he must have committed the crime. According to PA, a psychiatric report had revealed that he had a personality disorder. (sda/dpa)
