Former President of the United States Donald Trump today he apologized for not returning it to the authorities classified documents he took from the White House because he was “too busy” to look for them inside the boxes he stored in his mansion.
This is what the Republican told the ultraconservative channel foxnews in his first interview since last week, he was charged with 37 federal crimes for refusing to turn over documents that included nuclear secrets.
Trump said that he did not give the documents at the request of the National Archives Administration because it was the first he had to take out his “personal belongings” box, but he was “so busy” and didn’t have time for it. “Before the delivery of the boxes, I had to take out a lot of things. These boxes were full of all kinds of things like golf shirts, clothes, pants, shoes. It was all kinds of things,” he said.
According to the indictment, the former president illegally took hundreds of confidential documents 2021, when he left the presidency, including nuclear secrets, which he stored in boxes in various parts of his mansion in Mar-a-Lago (Florida), such as the bedroom, ballroom, bathroom and shower.
Trump, who still refuses to admit that he lost the 2020 election to incumbent Democrat Joe Biden, is the front-runner for the 2024 Republican nomination.
