These 12 women in the baby ward of an American hospital are pregnant at the same time.

Can pregnancy be contagious? You might get that impression in a hospital in Virginia. Because at the Riverside Regional Medical Center, twelve employees of the same baby station became pregnant almost at the same time.

The astonished hospital officials were briefed earlier this year on their fortunate circumstances by ten nurses, an intern and the secretary of the Prematurity Unit.

“It’s an incredible record for the same station. Five of the pregnant women are becoming mothers for the first time,” the hospital said.

“We help each other”

Five out of twelve nurses are pregnant for the first time. Haley Bradshaw, who is expecting her second child, said on the Today show: “We disagreed. But we all help each other to make sure everyone has the best pregnancy possible.” Two of the babies have already been born and three more are expected in early July.

However, the unofficial US record holder is the Children’s Mercy Hospital of Missouri. In 2019, 36 nurses in neonatal intensive care gave birth to their baby within a year. (jmh)
