Ukraine managed to hit a Russian ammunition depot.

For minutes, explosions are heard again and again, thick black smoke rises, a huge cloud spreads: what is burning here is not just any building near the port city of Henichesk in the Kherson region, but an ammunition depot for Russian troops.

Ukrainian forces managed to hit and destroy it with Storm Shadow missiles. Sergei Brachuk, spokesman for the Odessa military administration, said in his video message on Sunday morning: “In the morning, our forces dealt a heavy blow to the village of Rykove in the Henichesk district – and a very loud one. There was a very important ammunition depot and that was destroyed.”

“Good job guys!”

Ukrainian media and bloggers published videos and photos of the destroyed buildings. Apparently the depot was hit by the Storm Shadow missiles supplied by the UK. These are fired from the air and have a range of 300 kilometers. For Ukraine, this means they can reach targets deep in Russian-held territories.

A Ukrainian Air Force spokesman said in a TV interview, “The less ammunition there is and the more fire and the more explosions there are from enemy depots, the less of it will hit our defenders.”

Ukrainian Air Force commander Mikola Oleshchuk posted a video on his Telegram channel showing a thick black cloud of smoke. He writes, “Great work, guys!” (new)
