This shot literally failed. A man (62) in the US state of Illinois shot himself in the leg with a gun – because he dreamed that he had been robbed. That’s according to the Lake County Police Department.
According to police, Mark D.*, who lives about 40 miles northwest of Chicago, dreamed of a burglar breaking into his home on April 10. He then grabbed his Magnum pistol and shot the alleged burglar, CNN reports.
After the shot was fired, D. woke up – and found that he had not shot at a burglar, but in his own leg.
Was gun ownership illegal?
Rescuers found Marc D. in his home. He lost “a large amount of blood” and had to be taken to hospital. The bullet pierced his leg and left a hole in his mattress.
Despite “detailed investigations,” no burglar was found in the apartment, authorities said.
For gun owner Mark D. it can get even worse after the incident: the police have filed a lawsuit against him. It turned out that D. should not have owned a weapon at all. He doesn’t have a gun license.
Mark D. is currently free after posting $150,000 bail. At the end of the month he has to appear in court – because of a dream… (zis)
