Rammstein albums soar in charts despite allegations of 2018 Pittsburgh synagogue attack: gunman now found guilty

The recent discussion about Rammstein and singer Till Lindemann has not hindered the sale of the internationally successful Berlin band. The musicians are again represented in the latest Top 100 album charts with six of their eight studio albums to date, all of which have made significant gains.

The latest album “Zeit” rose from 29th place last week to 10th place in the official German charts published on Friday, which were determined by the Baden-Baden company GfK Entertainment. Predecessor “Rammstein” rose from 52 to 20, the album “Mutter” from 2001 made it from 61 to 25.

The band’s three other albums are back on the charts. 2004’s “Reise, Reise” is now 55th, 2009’s “Liebe ist für alle da” was 57th, and Rammstein’s 1995 first album “Herzeleid” is 90th.

With “Sonne” at number 69, a Rammstein song also made the charts again.

Serious accusations

In recent days, several women – some anonymously – had made accusations against Lindemann. They described situations that they sometimes found frightening. During concerts, young women were selected and asked to come to the aftershow party. According to some women, sexual acts have taken place.

Lindemann had rejected allegations against him. He has his interests represented by a lawyer. “Severe allegations have been made against our client by several women on social networks, especially on Instagram, Twitter and YouTube,” a statement said.

“It has been repeatedly alleged that women at Rammstein concerts were drugged with knockout drops or alcohol to enable our client to perform sexual acts on them. All of these allegations are untrue.”

According to reports, the Berlin public prosecutor’s office has filed summary proceedings against Lindemann. If the public prosecutor’s office becomes aware of a suspicion of a crime, it must investigate. Media messages can be the trigger for this.

The presumption of innocence applies until the investigation is completed. The record label Universal Music Entertainment has temporarily suspended its marketing and promotional activities for Rammstein. (sda/dpa)
