Rammstein drummer Christoph Schneider has issued an extensive statement about the events surrounding the band and vocalist Till Lindemann. “The allegations over the past few weeks have shocked us as a band and me as a person,” the 57-year-old wrote on his Instagram account.
Several women had made accusations against Lindemann, some of them anonymously. They described situations that they sometimes found frightening. During concerts, young women were selected and asked to come to the aftershow party. According to some women, sexual acts have taken place.
Allegations are “without exception untrue”
Lindemann had rejected allegations against him. He has his interests represented by a lawyer. “Severe allegations have been made against our client by several women on social networks, especially on Instagram, Twitter and YouTube,” a statement said. “It has been repeatedly alleged that women at Rammstein concerts were drugged with knockout drops or alcohol to enable our client to perform sexual acts on them. All of these allegations are untrue.”
After reports of allegations against Lindemann, the public prosecutor’s office in Berlin has launched an investigation against him. If the public prosecutor’s office becomes aware of a suspicion of a crime, it must investigate. Media messages can be the trigger for this. The presumption of innocence applies until the investigation is completed.
Schneider now described the developments in the band from his point of view. «Till has distanced himself from us in recent years and created his own bubble. With their own people, their own parties, their own projects. That made me sad, absolutely.” He believes Lindemann when he says that he always wants to give his private guests a good time. “How exactly these guests imagined it apparently differs from his own ideas in some cases,” says Schneider. sda/dpa)
