Websites of the city of Zurich unavailable again – further pro-Russian DDoS attacks Swiss parliament wants to allow rapid 5G expansion

The pro-Russian hacktivist group “NoName057(16)” also attacked Swiss websites on Friday, temporarily paralyzing them.

The website of the city of Zurich was unavailable between 11 a.m. and noon on Friday. According to the municipality, the reason was an unspecified IT malfunction.

Due to the malfunction, various online services are unavailable, the city council reports on Twitter on Friday afternoon at noon. For example, the website www.stadt-zuerich.ch was not accessible. The emergency numbers were not affected by the malfunction.

Before 1.30pm, the city of Zurich, also via Twitter, gave its clearance, saying there was “no evidence of a hacker attack”.

The city’s website and other services were already unavailable on Wednesday. At the time, an attack by a pro-Russian hacktivist group was cited as the cause.

DDoS attacks continue

Watson’s research shows that server overload attacks by the pro-Russian hacktivist group “NoName057(16)” against Swiss targets continued on Friday. The website of the arms company and former federal company Ruag, among others, was attacked. The website of the Association of Swiss Private Bankers was also temporarily offline. The alleged attackers published corresponding messages on the Telegram messaging service.

The cyber criminals’ indiscriminate attacks also targeted the road safety center in the cantons of Obwalden and Nidwalden.
