A fatal road accident involving a group of young Youtubers caused uproar and outrage in Italy. A boy (5) was killed in a collision just outside Rome on Wednesday.
His sister (3) and mother were taken to hospital with serious injuries, the media reported unanimously. The family’s small car had collided with a luxury SUV on a residential street. The toddler died in hospital.
Driving recklessly?
According to inside information, the young people had borrowed the Lamborghini Urus to make YouTube videos. The prosecutor’s office is investigating the alleged driver for the Italian crime of killing on the road, Ansa news agency reported.
It is suspected that the Youtubers drove recklessly and too fast because of a so-called challenge that was filmed. According to Ansa, there were no skid marks on the road. Police confiscated the cell phones of the SUV’s occupants, which may have distracted the group.
Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri (56) expressed his condolences to the victim’s family. The day after the accident, politicians were outraged by the YouTuber’s behavior. Many warned that online challenges can always be life-threatening and suggested tougher penalties, as well as better education. (SDA)
