Several streets across the city were closed

Police arrested a 31-year-old man in the English city of Nottingham this Tuesday for the alleged murder of three peopleas part of an operation that began at dawn and caused security forces to shut down traffic in several areas.

Authorities received the first notification shortly after 4:00 a.m. (local time), after two bodies were found in the street. Shortly after, a second alarm went off, warning that a van had tried to run over three people, according to a police statement. A third body was later found.

“This is a terrible and tragic event,” Nottinghamshire Police Commissioner Kate Meynell said. “We believe that these three cases are connected and that we have one man in custody. The investigation is at an early stage and a team of detectives are working to establish exactly what happened.”

Meynell also noted that “multiple streets are closed across the city,” and asked the public and motorists to avoid those areas and plan alternate routes.

The three cases investigated took place in very different areas of Nottingham: a hit and run on Milton Street, in the middle of a shopping centre; two bodies were found on Ilkeston Road (east); and the third deceased was found on Magdala road (north).
