As the magazine “Forbes” reports, the 128th mountain infantry brigade, an elite unit of the Ukrainian army, is said to have a very special vehicle that has been made in secret handicrafts in recent weeks – the BMPT-62 “Terminator”. “.

Important for the counter-offensive

The Ukrainian “Terminator” is the first and only of its kind, as it was put together by resourceful army specialists. The niche vehicle is a combination of a Soviet T-62 main battle tank and a BMP-2 armored personnel carrier, which is also of Soviet design. The hermaphrodite is equipped with an automatic 30 millimeter on-board cannon and special reactive armor that improves crew protection.

While the hull, i.e. the lower part, comes from the T-62, the turret comes from a BMP-2. Together, this makes for a vehicle somewhere between a main battle tank and an infantry transport, a weapon that could be important in Ukraine’s ongoing counter-offensive. According to Ukrainian military bloggers, the “Terminator” is already being used in the current fighting in the Zaporizhia region.

The home-made vehicle has a Russian model. Because Vladimir Putin’s army has the BMPT Terminator, which was developed on the basis of the T-72 main battle tank and is particularly suitable for use in urban combat. The original was built by the Russian company UralVagonZavod.
