The warmest October in Switzerland since the start of the measurements – summer day at the end of DST

October will go down in history as the warmest October since records began. According to the federal weather service, the average Swiss temperature was around 3.8 degrees too warm.

Saturday was in line with the warm October days. In Zweisimmen BE it was 25.4 degrees on Saturday afternoon and in Ebnat-Kappel SG 25.3 degrees, according to measurements by the weather service of the federal government Meteoschweiz. In Jurassic Fahy, the mercury rose to 25.1 degrees.

On the Hörnli ZH it has not been as warm in October for more than 30 years as on Saturday with 23.6 degrees.

The MeteoSwiss monitoring station on Basel’s home mountain, St. Chrischona, indicated 24.7 degrees. Göschenen UR registered 24.3 degrees.

With the warm air, Sahara dust also came to Switzerland, SRF Meteo wrote on Twitter. This obscured long-range vision.
