Help us! We look for the Christmas market with the tastiest (and cheapest) mulled wine

Now it is high season for the Christmas markets again. And what would a visit to one of these be without a cup of mulled wine? Even. But where can you find the best mulled wine? And where is the most expensive and the cheapest? You tell us.

The large Christmas markets – which last until Christmas – have been open in the various major cities in Switzerland since Thursday (or Friday at the latest). You can enjoy the pre-Christmas atmosphere at more than 350 markets throughout Switzerland (click here for our large overview).

In addition to the homely atmosphere, beautiful stands with many gift ideas and Christmas music, many visitors also come for the food. Or better said: mulled wine. But where can you find the best mulled wine in Switzerland? Write to us in the comments!

And also important: How much do you pay for a glass? Because not infrequently the accusation comes up (in this case even from an exhibitor himself) that Christmas markets do not exactly shine as islands of low prices. We asked some major Christmas markets. Many leave the prices to the exhibitors, but sometimes there are also specifications.

In the vast majority of cases, pricing is left up to the provider. Of course, they also pay attention to the competition. Basically you can find anything between 5 and 10 francs (if there is a dash of extra alcohol).

At the Aarau Christmas market the price is determined by the organizer. This is fixed and amounts to 7 francs for 2 dl (+ mulled wine cup deposit 5 francs). There was no price increase compared to last year.

Naturally, the price varies depending on the region and the Christmas market. In the Adväntsgass in Basel For example, you make recommendations. You don’t want dumping prices, but you also don’t want overpriced mulled wine, as the organizers write. The minimum price this year is 6 francs.

There are no specifications from the organizers for the Christmas market on Barfüsserplatz and Münsterplatz. The stall chooses the price. Manuel Staub, head of fairs and markets, writes about this year: “The exhibitors have registered a sales price of approximately 5 francs.”

It sounds similar Star city of St.Gallen bee. There were no specifications. Romuald Maier from the St.Gallen Christmas market reports: “Assuming prices are the same as last year, a 2dl cup of mulled wine costs 6 francs.”

At the Bern Christmas market on Münsterplatz Traditionally there is only one refreshment stand/bar. This has been run for years by the Dreierlei association. There are no specifications from the organizer. “A mulled wine (2 dl) now costs 7 francs this year,” writes Pia Reist when asked. Last year the price was 6.50 francs.

CP9 AG organizes the Christmas markets in Zurich Dorfli Christmas market and the Zurich Christmas market in the main station. There were no price specifications for mulled wine, as Thomas Ritter writes. Whether there will be price increases will become clear once the market is up and running again (research was at the beginning of this week). The price of 6.90 francs is known from one provider.

However, there are specs for the new one Christmas Allee in Zurich. At the market’s outdoor bars the cup costs 6.90 francs (refill: 6.30 francs), in the mulled wine dome you pay 8 francs (refill: 7.50 francs).
