The more often a man uses his mobile phone, the lower the quality of his sperm. According to a study, men who use their mobile phone more than twenty times a day have one-fifth less sperm per milliliter than men who use their mobile phone a maximum of five times a day.
Researchers from the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and the University of Geneva analyzed the semen of 2,886 men between 18 and 22 years old recruited between 2005 and 2018, the two institutions announced on Wednesday.
This is the world’s largest study to date on the subject, co-author Martin Röösli told the Keystone-SDA news agency.
However, according to the study, high cell phone use had no effect on sperm motility and morphology. The data also suggests that the location of phone storage is not associated with poorer sperm quality. According to Röösli, further research is needed to be able to make reliable statements. (sda)
