Sale of the Lucerne Mountain Clinic: The criticism of the approach is loud

The SP describes the sale of the mountain clinic in Lucerne, Montana, announced on Wednesday as a “cloak and dagger operation”, and the social partners feel faced with a fait accompli. The government and LUKS management emphasized the correctness of this step on Thursday.

The government and the board of the LUKS would circumvent the hospital law, the SP of the canton of Lucerne wrote in a press release on Thursday.

The SP stated that the fact that this deal was reached without the involvement of Parliament and the Health Committee contradicted “all democratic cooperation” and unnecessarily created uncertainty among Lucerne’s regional hospitals.

The social partners also expressed their “consternation” about the approach in a press release. The sale was carried out and announced without prior information or intervention from the social partners.

However, at a media conference on Thursday, those responsible emphasized that the sale was the right thing to do – also for the “contemporary needs of patients”, as government councilor Reto Wyss (center) said.
