Mr and Mrs Schweizer voted yesterday on a reform of the AHV, its additional financing through an increase in VAT, the organic initiative and the withholding tax. Here’s how the Twitter community responded to voters’ decisions:

In the run-up there was already heated discussion – especially about the AHV reform. Opponents of the proposal particularly emphasized the gender pay inequality, which has profound implications for old age pensions. The supporters objected, among other things, that women have a longer life expectancy and therefore also benefit from a pension for longer. While these users were disappointed with the outcome of the votes, it remains to be seen whether they were surprised.
