What impact will BaseCamp Innovation Israel have in Panama?

Studies to implement BaseCamp Innovation Israel in Panama have already begun, Minister of Trade and Industry (MICI), Federico Alfaro Boyd, said this week.

“This alliance between Mici and BaseCamp Innovation Israel will be instrumental in promoting the growth of the technology ecosystem based on agriculture, water and cybersecurity, as well as alliances with the private sector, promoting the transfer of knowledge and the development of young people’s capacitiesAlfaro said.

According to Alfaro, Israel is a strategic partner in several fundamental issues for the country’s future, in topics such as climate change, food security, agrotechnology, cyber security and disaster risk management.

A technology event was held this week Cybertech Latin America 2023organized by the Embassy of Israel in Panama, which brought together important authorities.

In this sense, Foreign Affairs Minister Janaina Tewaney pointed out that Cybertech brought Israel’s progress in technology and digitalization closer to the region.

“Israel is a powerhouse in cyber security and product development. It is known as the country of startups,” he said.

On the other hand, the program included the workshop “Innovation and the Digital Transformation of Panama” in which Dr. Philippe Aniorte, director of the National Institute for Advanced Scientific Research in Information and Communication Technologies (Indicatic AIP), and Dr. Zoila Guerra de Castillo, professor at University of Technology in Panama and international consultant for logistics and supply chain.

Aniorte held the conference “From Industry 4.0 to Intelligent Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS): New Challenges for Systems Engineering”.

For his part, Guerra exposed on innovations in the supply chain and logisticsincluding the use of autonomous vehicles, drones, robotics and automation, the Internet of Things, Blockchain and artificial intelligence.

Other topics discussed included cyber resilience, ransomware attacks, cyber security, business opportunities in the connected age and advances in digital transformation.
