The French-speaking Swiss SRG broadcaster Couleur 3 uses artificial intelligence to broadcast its program on Thursday. The moderators’ voices are pre-cloned and the texts are generated by the American chat robot ChatGPT.
Cloned voices would be broadcast from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., except in news programs, radio RTS, based in western Switzerland, announced on Twitter. On Friday, an assessment must be made of the experiment at the station in Lausanne VD.
According to a report by CH Media, real people such as former US presidents Donald Trump and Barack Obama can also be impersonated. Thus, the music played on the station was largely or at least partially composed by artificial intelligence.
The radio editors wanted to explore the limits of artificial intelligence, question habits and also provoke something, according to Antoine Multone, boss of Couleur 3. The public would be regularly informed about the special experiment. (aeg/sda)
