For many, Meghan Trainor has disappeared from the scene after her hits “All about that Bass” or “No”. However, the musician is still very active. In addition to her music, the 29-year-old runs a successful TikTok channel and the podcast ‘Workin’ On It’. In a new episode, the singer has now caused a stir – and has been cancelled.
In the episode, Trainor spoke to controversial influencer Trisha Paytas about homeschooling. She revealed that instead of sending her children to public school, she plans to homeschool them.
“F*ck Teachers”
The subject seemed emotional to both, as a heated discussion about the American school system began. The main focus was on the difficulties and dangers of public schools: bullying, school shootings and bad teachers. Paytas responded to the latter, saying she had experienced a lot of “trauma” from teachers. Trainor agreed and said, “F*ck teachers”.
The fragment with the comments went viral on TikTok shortly afterwards and dozens of teachers reacted indignantly to the video. They began listing the hardships they struggled with each day and how little reward they received for doing so. The average annual salary for an elementary school teacher in the US is $62,000, or about $5,000 per month.
“Finally” Meghan is canceled
Trainor responded to the massive criticism with an apology video. In it, she explained that the phrase had slipped out because she used to be bullied by teachers. She didn’t mean “F*ck teachers in general, but f*ck those people who would have done that back then.”
However, the apology fell on deaf ears on TikTok – as is so often the case. Some users were happy that Meghan was “finally” canceled and that her career was now “over”. Others posted videos with texts like: “You can’t bust a bubble” or “Once the toothpaste is out of the tube, you can’t put it back in”. So once something is said, it cannot be undone.
