In fact, it deserved a more glamorous view on the Internet than a virtual presentation. After all, the Renault Clio has been one of Europe’s best-selling cars since its production began in 1990 and, with 16 million units, the best-selling French vehicle of all time.

The fifth-generation Clio will receive a facelift from June to ensure it stays on the sales track for years to come. “The new Clio takes the next step with an even sharper front end,” Renault brand boss Fabrice Cambolive said during his virtual presentation. “We support our customers in many countries in their energy transition with Clio’s efficient E-Tech full-hybrid drivetrain,” continues Cambolive.

Visually, the 4.05-meter-long Clio’s face changes specifically to the current model – a makeover in the literal sense of the word. In addition to the radiator grille, the light signature has also been completely redesigned. The rear has also been slightly sharpened with modified airflow, apron and clear glass lights.

Only sustainable plastics

In the interior, the natural material leather disappears completely. Depending on the equipment line-up (Evolution, Techno or Esprit Alpine), sustainably produced seat covers are available instead. The screen behind the steering wheel can be ordered in two sizes (seven or ten inches). The same applies to the central touchscreen for navigation, audio system or air conditioning/heating. There are also two different screen sizes (seven and 9.3 inches). Up to 20 driver assistance systems are also available.

The engine range consists of two currently known drive variants. For starters, the 3-cylinder petrol engine TCe 90 with manual transmission with 90 hp. Along with the well-known 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine: as well as an automatic transmission and a smaller 1.2 kWh battery. However, Renault still does not offer an all-electric version of the Clio. If you want to go around Renault in this segment, you can choose the Zoe or the new all-electric R5 from 2025.
