«7 vs. Wild» enters a new round. When announcing the third season, Fritz Meinecke already revealed that there would be a lot different in this edition.
This time, the candidates are exposed to the wilderness for two weeks instead of seven days. In addition, there should be no more daily challenges. The participants no longer start in isolation from each other, but work in teams of two.
And this time there are also quite a few changes regarding the items that the candidates are allowed to bring. Meinecke explained in a video what that means (see below). And now the appearance is clear: also the third season of “7 vs. Wild” will present great challenges to the participants.
A bottle as a challenge
Meinecke suspects that the change in the allowed items could cause a lot of discussion. “How do we get to the subject of objects without you tearing my head off?” he wonders at the beginning of the video explaining the innovations.
In memory of: In the first season, the contestants were initially allowed to carry seven items, but over the course of the show there was a so-called “disposal challenge” where they had to dispose of many items.
In the second season it was different. There, the participants were given a different number of items depending on how strong their survival skills were.
Meineke says:
And he reveals a previously unknown detail. In recent seasons there have been “hours, days of discussions with participants and the organizing team” about what should be allowed. “It was a huge catastrophe,” he concluded bitterly.
The team has now drawn conclusions from this. All contestants will receive the same sleeping bag in season 3. In addition, each team receives a one liter bottle. The participants can fill it with “anything,” says Meinecke. However, there are limitations.
Illegal items are prohibited, including multimedia devices. “But other than that, you can put whatever you want in here. You can pack food here, noodles, rice, a candy bar,” he gives examples. Important tools such as fishing hooks, cords, arrowheads can also find their place in the bottle. However, the bottle should not be deformed.
Meinecke believes the new challenge will be “super exciting”. Because each team has to think together about what to put in the bottle. Meinecke is happy:
The new rule “makes the whole thing much more minimalist,” continues Meinecke. «For us, it’s about the teams thinking together, developing a strategy and coming up with ideas: what are they doing on site? What little helpers, what tools can you pack here to build a better shelter on site to get food,” he says.
He also suggests that you could put “information” in the bottle so you can remember it later.
One fan, on the other hand, suspects that the contestants might have other priorities:
What’s missing?
However, there are no major changes in clothing. All participants will have access to the same equipment as last year.
The fans are excited about the rule change, but are missing a crucial detail. In the comments to the video, there are many comments that the candidates should also be given something to build a shelter with. Axes, saws or machetes are most often mentioned.
It remains to be seen whether these items will also be made available.
