In the spring convertibles come out of the garage and take off their hats. With the right care, you can relax and enjoy the fresh air in the garage after the first winter.

In the spring, cars take off their covers and convertibles find their way out of garages. Many drivers enjoy the fresh air on their commute or other daily commute. Only: Most convertibles have a fabric top, which requires more maintenance than a hard top.

So everything stays closed

Biggest problem areas: friction. Regular impregnation helps against this. A saddler can repair minor leaks. For larger friction areas, the only solution is a new roof. To get a good view of the rear: Polish the plastic rear window with special agents for window films so that it does not tarnish too quickly.

Since the rear window of the convertible is mostly made of plastic, it should be cleaned with special agents for window film, not with a glass cleaner.

So that everything stays clean

If you don’t trust your convertible’s suitability for a car wash – according to the operating instructions – manual work is the order of the day. Scrub the roof with a soft, natural brush or with cold, clean water. When cleaning bird droppings and insect droppings, be careful when choosing a cleaning agent! Otherwise the roof will be more stained later than before. Therefore: Use the items recommended in the operating instructions. BLICK tip: A mix of 5 liters of water and 1 tablespoon of dish soap!

The soft top should be brushed dry with a soft natural brush or with cold and clean water.

So everything works like clockwork

Finally, rub the rubber seals with a silicone/Vaseline-based care product and lubricate all the moving parts of the sunroof attachment with some lubricant. And watch out: Never lift the pop-up fabric when it’s wet, or it will smell bad next time.

The sunroof should never be lifted when wet, or it may smell bad next time.
