Arnold Schwarzenegger visited Auschwitz – and has something to say about it

Clear words from Arnold Schwarzenegger. In a video circulated on social media platforms, the Hollywood star addresses people prone to dangerous groups.

Hate has always been the easier way, history would prove that. Arnold Schwarzenegger explains this in a video posted on Twitter, warning of the lure of discriminatory ideologies and racist conspiracy myths.

In the clip published Monday, the actor and former governor of California targets those “who may have already stumbled in the wrong direction, the wrong way.”

“I want to talk to you if you find yourself thinking someone else is inferior to you or attacking you because of their religion, race or gender,” Schwarzenegger says in the video.

Visit to Auschwitz

In the video, the 75-year-old describes his impressions of a recent visit to the German concentration camp at Auschwitz and asks, “How can we prevent this from ever happening again?” He reminds that hate-based movements such as the Nazi regime, the South African apartheid regime or the American Confederacy always lost in the end.

“Throughout history, hate has always been the easy way, the way of least resistance,” says Schwarzenegger. It was always easier to find a scapegoat for a problem than to make things better yourself. “But to be clear, you will never find success at the end of this path.”

Schwarzenegger has already received much encouragement for his words. “Thanks for saying that, Arnold. We’re all concerned,” one captioned the video. “Strong words,” said another. “That’s great,” was another comment, praising Schwarzenegger for focusing to those who may have “already succumbed to hatred” The star is said to give them hope and “show them the way to true strength”.
