Car enthusiasts have always dreamed of waking up next to their favorite wheeled cans. At the German lifestyle hotel B’mine at Frankfurt am Main airport, this has been possible for a year: an overnight stay in one of 40 unusual car loft rooms.
On the balcony of the high-rise hotel, right next to the bed, there is a private parking lot called a car box. Of course, this includes a charging station for electric cars. At the beginning of March, the second hotel with 26 car rooms will open in Düsseldorf.

Anyone who wants to go to the hotel room with their car without getting off can get a room key by making a room reservation online and take advantage of the fully glazed car lift at check-in. Just drive, choose a floor, enjoy the view as you go up, and then park on the balcony.
As unusual as it may sound, the car loft concept is not new. Berlin architect Manfred Dick invented it out of necessity. In 2005, when planning a residential building in Paul-Lincke-Höfe in Berlin-Kreuzberg (D), it was determined that the construction of an underground car park was impossible due to the sandy soil. However, parking spaces had to be found close to the apartment – in 2010 the residential building with the world’s first patented car lift and carport was opened.
From emergency nails to lifestyle whims: It has been applied several times for luxury developments like the Bentley or Porsche towers in Miami, Florida. The hotel concept of B’mine hotels is and continues to be unique in Europe.
And what is this?
Besides the enchanting view from the balcony, it has many advantages: your dear lover is safe from weather damage and theft, the luggage does not need to be dragged laboriously throughout the hotel and can be easily unloaded from the trunk directly into the room. If you want to experience this strange adventure yourself, you can do it for 180 francs per night in Frankfurt and 140 francs in Düsseldorf.
According to B’mine management, car lofts are in great demand – 40 percent of them are always occupied. Due to the notable demand, the hotel chain is expanding: it wants to run 30 hotels by 2030 – it’s still unclear whether they have car lofts or not.
