Netflix confirms super 50% discount: who gets it and what’s the price

In the midst of a strong crisis affecting various streaming services, Netflix has decided to lower subscription prices in more than 100 countries, mostly low-income regions where the company has fewer customers. "We are always exploring ways to improve the experience for our members," the platform said in a statement. "We confirm that we are updating the prices of our plans in certain countries".

With this measure, the company tries to give competition to other platforms such as HBO Max, Amazon Prime, Disney+ and Apple TV which are currently taking over the Netflix market.

This new discount will benefit 10 million subscribers in markets including Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines, according to independent research firm Ampere Analysis. The company's basic subscription price will have the best discount: it is estimated to be close to 50%. For more expensive plans, cuts are between 17% and 25%. None of the affected markets have an ad-supported offering.

What will the price be in Argentina?

Discounts will not only reach the Asian region, but there will also be discounts for Latin America. Platform began updating discounted prices on February 13 in countries such as Bolivia, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Ecuador, Guatemala and Panamaamong others.

However, Argentina is not included in the discount plan.
