The next US giant will be electric

The powerful pickup truck, the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept, made its big debut at CES, the Consumer Electronics Show that ended last Sunday in Las Vegas (USA). With a slightly modified radiator grille and large LED daytime running lights, it’s immediately recognizable as Stellantis Group’s new figure in America, a Stromer. “The Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept directly shows where our journey is headed in terms of electrification,” says Mike Koval Junior, CEO of Ram.

The 1500 Revolution Ram pickup offers not only all-wheel drive but also all-wheel steering on the STLA frame platform with adjustable air suspension. And unlike the Ford F-150 Lightning, but like the Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra, the Ram 1500 BEV is equipped with modern 800 volt charging technology; It can be charged up to 350 kilowatts. It has juice for a range of more than 150 kilometers in just ten minutes.

Approximately 450 to 580 hp

Mike Koval will not reveal more technical details about the new electric pickup in Las Vegas. That’s all: With a combination of payload, towing capacity, range and charge time, Ram-Stromer should outshine the competition. Therefore, we can only guess that the power range of the Stromer in the Ram family will be above the internal combustion engine (260 to 395 hp) – probably in the top model Ford F-150 Lightning range with 452 hp (377 kW). ) or 580 hp (433 kW) and 1050 Nm.

Working close to production, it not only features a spacious cabin that can be climbed through opposing doors without a B-pillar, but also a third row of seats with foldable emergency seats and a powerful front trunk. Behind the electrically opening lid, the trunk (front trunk, front trunk) offers plenty of space and even long objects can be loaded inside.

The generously sized interiors of the doors are practical, hiding not only the sound system and recessed handles, but also the optionally heated or cooled small compartments and connections for additional speakers. The loading area can be significantly expanded with the power tailgate. So that the driver can see everything, there are not only cameras around, but also cameras and screens instead of the familiar interior and exterior mirrors, at least in working closely with the series. The individual car functions and the navigation system are operated via a touchscreen up to 28 inches (approx. 71 cm).

Prices between $60,000 and $100,000

Ram CEO Koval says nothing about prices and is still a long way from the start of mass production in 2024. But the older generation of the Ram 1500 is available as a so-called workshop starting at around $30,000. As a result, we assume that as a pure commercial vehicle, the production version of the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV could start at just under $60,000 and the luxury model could draw in $100,000.

With the electric Ram 1500 Revolution BEV, Stellantis Group wants to significantly reduce the gap to the two best-selling rivals, the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado, while simultaneously moving away from the Toyota Tundra and the new model that is not yet available. but already buy over 1.2 Million pre-ordered Tesla Cybertrucks.
