before the trip
More than 28,000 readers of Schweizer Illustrierte, Blick & SonntagsBlick, L’Illustré and La Domenica and visitors to Auto Zürich participated in the biggest multilingual car voting of the year and chose the Skoda Enyaq Coupé RS iV among 50 new models from Switzerland. favorite car It cannot be assumed that they all drive the new Skoda Stromer, which was released just a month ago. Therefore, you should probably be particularly interested in this short test of the new Swiss favorite.
on the street
We already know the technology of the all-electric Enyaq Coupé RS from the VW ID.4 GTX or Audi top version Q4 E-Tron. However, the chassis of the 2.2-ton Skoda has been lowered a bit. Combined with hybrid tires, this provides excellent handling in fast corners. As it turns, the steering becomes more direct. The intensity of rest can be changed in several stages using the shift paddles on the steering wheel. With practice, we will drive the Enyaq Coupé almost without using the brake pedal.
That was great
The chassis and driving performance of the 299 hp (220 kW) all-wheel drive vehicle (in 6.5 seconds to 100 km/h) are convincing. Charging power has been increased from 125 to 135 kilowatts (kW) compared to the regular Enyaq. This means that the coupé can be electrically charged another 100 kilometers in seven minutes, and the battery will be 80 percent charged in half an hour. That’s fine, but it’s certainly not tied to Hyundai or Kia with 800-volt tech.
that was weak
It would be a weak exaggeration, a gentle criticism would be more appropriate: the all-wheel drive of the Enyaq Coupé RS iV increases the turning circle and makes the sporty coupé not particularly maneuverable when manoeuvring. The brakes take some getting used to. At the beginning of the pedal journey, it does not hold as hard as we are used to from other cars. And the high rear end combined with the flat rear window makes it difficult to see behind. Especially in the dark, the headlights of the people behind you are often not visible in the rear view mirror.
it remains
A cheeky and elegant look that provides ten to 15 kilometers more range, thanks to better aerodynamics compared to the regular Enyaq. And that’s impressive with around 500 kilometers (WLTP 540 km). In addition, the all-wheel drive vehicle offers plenty of space for passengers, numerous practical storage compartments and a surprisingly large 570-litre boot, despite its elegant shape.
Solution
We agree with 6.8 percent of the nearly 30,000 voters who chose the Enyaq Coupé RS iV as their favorite car for 2023. Although many of them have probably never used all-wheel drive, they are not mistaken in their judgment. The electric coupe deserves the title and offers a lot of cars for just under 65,000 francs.
