7 hard facts about Al Jazeera, which promotes hatred of Jews on TikTok and YouTube

The news channel Al Jazeera is repeatedly quoted by Western media when it comes to the war in the Gaza Strip. But the Qatari state broadcaster plays a very problematic role.

Al Jazeera promises ‘fearless journalism’. However, that is only half the truth. The widespread medium contributes to social division with questionable posts and posts on social media platforms. And these messages also reach young people in this country.

Watson summarizes the key points.

Where is the problem?

Al Jazeera’s social media posts also reach people in this country who sympathize with Islamist terrorist organizations. This statement becomes even more explosive in light of anti-Semitic crimes such as the knife attack on an Orthodox Jew in Zurich.

The German public television channel ARD published a fact check about Al Jazeera in early February and stated: Almost no other medium has as strong a presence in the Gaza Strip as the Qatari state broadcaster. Its content reached millions of people on social media platforms – and was often very one-sided.

During the war, the Arab news channel even reported 24 hours a day from places where Western journalists could not go. The problem: Al Jazeera’s one-sided reporting gives the impression that Israel is to blame for everything.

What you won’t find in Al Jazeera’s Gaza reporting is uncompromising criticism of the criminal actions of Hamas terrorists.

This imbalance was illustrated by Hamas’ terrorist attack on October 7, which was initially described as “bold.” At the same time, Al Jazeera said not a word about the atrocities committed by Palestinian Islamists. In a question-and-answer post, Hamas officials were allowed to spread the lie unchallenged that no Israeli civilians had been killed.

Many of the images and videos that have reached us from the Gaza Strip since then have come from Al Jazeera. The Arab broadcaster is virtually the only media that has staff stationed on the ground and can therefore report from the Gaza Strip without being accompanied by the Israeli army, the ARD said in its fact-checker article.

“However, the line between news reporting and propaganda is fluid – the proximity of the terrorist organization Hamas is an important factor to take into account, especially in reporting on the Middle East.”

The broadcaster reports unilaterally, SRF had previously stated, “without even mentioning the Israeli perspective or the Israeli victims and hostages.”

To find a plausible explanation for this one-sidedness, we must follow the money trail…

How is Al Jazeera financed?

Al Jazeera is a state-funded media. The financier is the ruling family of the Emirate of Qatar. And they also support Hamas. Logistics and financial.

The head of Hamas’s politburo is reportedly staying in an office in the Qatari capital Doha. And the leadership of the Islamic hereditary monarchy gave money to the Islamic Muslim Brotherhood and its associated terrorist organization Hamas.

Note: Unlike the independent media in the Western world, the Arab medium with the widest reach is not funded by advertising or subscription fees, but by a regime that supports terrorists and is extremely wealthy thanks to oil and gas reserves.

“US embassy memos published by WikiLeaks show that Qatar claims to uphold press freedom, but according to the US ambassador, it will not tolerate press freedom at home.”

Al Jazeera targets a Western audience with ‘woke Islamism’.

For media consumers in the West, two offshoots of the Arab parent company Al Jazeera are relevant: the English-language program Al Jazeera English and AJ+, a social media company that is part of the Al Jazeera network and also offers content in French and Spanish. And on many channels:

  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • Medium.com
  • TikTok
  • X (Twitter)
  • YouTube

According to its own information, the Qatari news channel reaches more than 430 million people worldwide. The AJ+ offering, which Al Jazeera produces specifically for Western social media platforms, is also explicitly aimed at a European and American audience.

Al Jazeera has offered an English-language TV program since 2006. Al Jazeera’s English content is also distributed online, mainly through YouTube and other US platforms. TikTok, part of the Chinese company ByteDance, is also becoming increasingly important.

The NZZ noted that anti-Semitic ‘outbreaks’ are rare in Al Jazeera’s English reporting as an attempt is made here to maintain an appearance of moderation.

“Statements by fundamentalists are often contradicted by critical voices. And Islamist positions have recently been wrapped in fashionable anti-racist jargon.”

The assessment of the ARD fact-checkers is clear: AJ+ is “strategically modern and progressive” in the West, also called “woken Islamism”. For example, there is also content advocating the rights of LGBTIQ* – although homosexuality in Qatar is punishable by up to seven years in prison or even death.

Al Jazeera indoctrinates (Muslim) youth

The ARD fact checkers have it Andreas Jacobs who headed the Konrad Adenauer Foundation’s foreign office in Cairo from 2007 to 2012 and heads the foundation’s social cohesion department.

The studied Islamic scholar says:

“Al Jazeera increasingly uses progressive discourse elements from the Western world and addresses the experiences and reality of Muslim youth in a very targeted manner.”

Accordingly, much of AJ+’s content relates to “concrete experiences of discrimination and exclusion experienced by Muslim youth in this country.” Not least because of the right-wing extremist incitement.

“These experiences of injustice are placed in context with the Islamic narrative of Muslim victimization and an international Islamophobia that we must stand together against and defend ourselves.”

Al Jazeera divides itself with emotional contributions that are not balanced

According to an ARD analysis, Al Jazeera relies on “emotional eyewitness accounts and images of wounded Palestinian children and grieving women” in its war reporting. As a serious journalistic medium and in the interest of balanced reporting, the Israeli perspective must also be taken into account. But you won’t find it in most posts.

“According to Jacobs, terms such as resistance, genocide or apartheid are taken for granted, actively used and not questioned. On the contrary, the narrative has taken hold that Hamas’ terrorist attack on October 7 was a legitimate response to decades of apartheid.”

According to Jacobs, he views the pointed story that the Israelis are virtually responsible for the Hamas massacre not only as “a grotesque untrue, but also as a worrying development in Germany.” This increasingly endangers social cohesion.

And we argue: With its one-sided reporting, Al Jazeera follows the Hamas strategy, which portrays Israel as “absolutely evil” in order to abuse compassion for the people of Gaza for their own purposes.

Not a word about the leaders of the Islamist terrorist organization, who have enriched themselves en masse with aid money instead of helping the Palestinian population.

Al Jazeera has been justifying Islamist terror against Jews for years

Al Jazeera, which translates as ‘the Arabian Peninsula’, was founded in 1996 when the British BBC closed down its Arabic-language affiliate. According to reports, the foundation cost Qatar’s then ruler, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, $150 million. Al Jazeera now officially belongs to Qatar Media Corporation, a company also owned by the ruling family.

Especially in Arab countries with censorship and heavily controlled state television, people often turn to Al Jazeera’s website and YouTube channel.

And the same reporting pattern described above has been visible here for years: attempts are being made to harm Israel with false stories. This also means that the military action in the Gaza Strip, which causes civilian casualties, is portrayed as genocide.

False genocide claim
The suffering of the Palestinian civilian population is undoubtedly enormous and there is probably hardly anyone who does not have compassion for the people of Gaza, Pia Lamberty, psychologist and director of the Center for Monitoring Strategy and Analysis (CeMAS), told ARD. But accusations of genocide would not help improve the situation of those affected. “The claim that Israel is committing genocide is based on an anti-Semitic narrative that is being exploited to demonize Israel.” In fact, there is no evidence that the term genocide has any connection with the reality in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli army is responding to the actions of Hamas, which has committed the worst anti-Semitic massacre since 1945.

Al Jazeera acts like RT (Russia Today)

“Al Jazeera deliberately fuels distrust in the Western media by claiming, for example, that the Western media hide the truth, while they are the only ones who report the truth.”

In fact, Al Jazeera’s reporting is very one-sided. Unsparing criticism of the Hamas leadership is sought in vain. Not a word about the fact that the leaders of the terrorist organization have enriched themselves enormously with Western aid money and enjoy luxury in safe Arab exile. Not a word is said about the fact that the Palestinian population is also being intimidated and terrorized by representatives of Hamas.

Worryingly, many pro-Palestinian rallies in Germany also saw “increased threats, insults and attacks on reporters,” according to the NGO Reporters Without Borders (RSF).

PS: What’s wrong with the Israeli media?

They also report one-sidedly. Very one-sided in fact, as a current documentary by the German television channel ZDF shows. The Israeli journalist Gideon Levy (“Haaretz”) points out that it only reports on the operations of the Israeli army and Hamas hostages. However, the suffering of the Palestinian civilian population is not discussed. And the well-known reporter also mentions the extremist Israeli settlers who, in the shadow of the Gaza war, have made enormous efforts to “change the reality here.”

The fact that the fundamentally free media in Israel are allowed to report in a balanced manner, but refrain from doing so for quota reasons, not only contradicts the basic rules of journalism, but also endangers democratic values.
