Northern lights, reindeers, icy weather: Terry (31), Nadine (30) and Luana (26) overcame these challenges with the new Opel Astra Electric during the eNordkapp Challenge. Together with nine other teams, they set out for Nordkapp without fuel. In the video they show the breathtaking nature and harsh weather conditions of the north.

The adventure started in Zurich on December 25th. The three players first traveled directly across Germany in the new Opel Astra Electric, then over three weeks via Denmark to the tip of Norway and back via Sweden. Even though all three were new to electric cars before the competition, they managed to make it to Nordkapp. “I was moved to tears of joy and overwhelmed,” says Luana. “I was relieved to achieve the goal and proud of how we worked together as a team,” says Terry.

The 4,200 kilometers to Nordkapp was no cakewalk: Terry, Nadine and Luana faced freezing temperatures, snow-covered roads and almost no daylight. “We averaged 350 kilometers a day,” says Terry. How did electric newcomers like the new Opel Astra Electric? “I felt very safe behind the wheel,” says Luana. “The seats were very comfortable on long trips and the battery withstood freezing temperatures.” Nadine adds: “Despite the icy roads, our road conditions were good and there were charging stops everywhere.”

The adventure’s biggest challenges? “It was cold for me. “The thermometer showed temperatures down to -30° Celsius, I’ve never had to deal with temperatures like that before,” says Luana. Terry, for his part, was respectful of being in such a small space with two women for 16 days. “We still get along very well and this trip brought us together as friends. brought it closer.”

Impressive wildlife and endless sunsets

The experience became even more impressive as the trio approached Nordkapp. “I was fascinated by the animal world,” says Terry. “We saw rabbits, foxes and reindeer.” The thing all three of them were most looking forward to was the Northern Lights. And they were not disappointed. “It was incredible to see them in all their glory,” says Luana. “The endless sunsets were also spectacular, making all the views look magical,” adds Nadine.

The three of them are actually passionate players. Did you miss the console? “I took a Nintendo Switch with me as a precaution, but it stayed in my backpack the entire trip,” says Terry. “Our adventure was so exciting that I didn’t really think about playing games,” Luana confirms.
