Ford would be a fool if they dropped their successful Kuga after the popular Fiesta and Galaxy. As a result, the compact SUV became the best-selling plug-in hybrid model in Europe in 2021 and 2022.
Produced in Europe for Europe, the Kuga is undergoing a comprehensive model renewal to continue to please its fans. Or to put it in the words of Jon Williams, General Manager of Ford of Europe: “With the new Kuga, we are bringing the best version yet to the road.”
Visually, especially the front and rear parts of the 2024 model year Kuga will be retouched and will optionally receive new LED lighting units with matrix function. The cockpit now features a dominant 13.2-inch touchscreen, as well as a variety of new assistance systems that support the driver.
Almost 70 kilometers fully electric
The 243 hp (179 kW) plug-in hybrid version, with a 2.5-liter gasoline engine and a revised electric module on the traction side, now creates a fully electric range of almost 70 kilometers with its fully charged battery pack. And the 183 hp (135 kW) all-wheel drive Kuga Hybrid 2.5 AWD makes 64 percent of its journeys in city traffic using electricity alone, with zero emissions. It should have a range of up to 900 kilometers on one tank of fuel.
Important for campers and recreational athletes or riders: Both hybrid variants, the all-wheel drive Kuga Hybrid and the front-wheel drive car with plug-in hybrid drive, can tow braked caravans, boats or horse trailers with a total weight of up to 100 kg . Up to 2.1 tonnes.
Prices of the completely renewed Kuga will increase slightly compared to the current model. The new hybrid versions start from 47,850 francs (hybrid 4×4) or 48,200 francs (plug-in, front-wheel drive). However, while the 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 150 hp continues to be offered as the entry-level version of the Kuga (new price 39,800 francs), diesel versions are being removed from the series.
