YouTuber slams the airline – they respond by banning flights

YouTuber Josh Cahill is followed by more than 650,000 people on the video platform. Its main content is to rate airlines. In his description he calls himself an “award-winning airline YouTuber”.

According to his own information, he has tested more than 185 different airlines and booked more than 650 flights in recent years. To be unbiased and provide ‘honest’ reviews, he finances every flight himself.

A video really cost Josh Cahill a lot of nerves. Because one airline was not enthusiastic about the review at all, he explains. She therefore tried to silence the YouTuber.

He rails against ‘the best airline in the world’

In a review vlog on YouTube in August 2023, Josh Cahill made negative comments about the airline. In a video about a two-part trip with Qatar Airlines, he questions whether the airline is really the “best airline in the world.” Qatar Airlines makes this statement about itself. And: After all, the company received international awards in December last year, especially for its business class offering.

The fact that things are not going well for the airline is already evident from the title of the video (“The shocking decline of Qatar Airways”). In it he takes the audience on a journey from Colombo to Doha. Still, he wasn’t really happy about it. In the video he criticizes the fact that the airplane toilets were dirty during the flight.

Furthermore, according to Cahill’s descriptions, the staff was not attentive or interested. The devastating conclusion: the flying experience was “below average” and also poor compared to previous flights he had already flown with the airline.

The community also comments on this. So there is a lot of approval from the public. Some users have criticized the airline’s treatment of staff.

Alleged attempts at bribery and blackmail

The YouTuber recently published a second video about the story. The title: “Banned and bribed by Qatar Airlines – a shocking move.” In it he describes how the airline responded to his criticism.

Qatar Airlines initially invited him to call, but wanted to ban him from recording the conversation. Because Qatar Airlines did not do well in the video, the airline initially tried to literally silence him. She demanded that he delete the video, as he tells his community in the new video. He did not agree with this.

There was even bribery. Qatar Airlines offered him a free flight so he would delete the video. “That’s not what I stand for,” he says. He therefore did not accept the offer.

Harsh response

Response from Qatar Airlines? Apparently a no-fly zone for the company’s YouTuber. “I have been evaluating airlines for ten years – this is the first time I have been rejected by an airline.”. As he describes, he had already been removed from the passenger list of an already booked flight.

According to the YouTuber, the airline has already taken personnel consequences. Moreover, she did not stop her efforts to have the video removed.
