What a joy: Today we are driving the most powerful Lamborghini of all time…

A delightful adventure awaits us: Today we are driving the new Revuelto, the most powerful Lamborghini of all time. 4.95 meter long hybrid all-wheel drive that produces 1015 hp and 725 Nm thanks to its 6.5-liter V12 gasoline engine and three additional electric motors.

To clarify the performance potential and progress of the new Lamborghini super sports car compared to its predecessor, the Aventador, Rouven Mohr, Lamborghini’s chief technician, says: “In one lap of the high-speed circuit in Nardò, the Revuelto Aventador with the same tires is three seconds clear of the SVJ. »

When we start, we start everything carefully and quietly and drive the vehicle fully electric. This is possible for up to 13 kilometers in Revuelto. “Of course we could have used a larger battery for the 100-kilometer range,” says Mohr. However, this will increase the total weight by at least 100 kilograms. “Ultimately, we wanted to create not just an ordinary plug-in hybrid, but a super sports car with fewer emissions and more power.”

100 km/h in 2.5 seconds

We have now reached the Vallelunga racetrack north of Rome. Here we can really get to know Revuelto and his driving. And it soon becomes clear: the two-seater’s acceleration is spectacular and breathtaking. Thanks to the interaction of the gasoline engine, an electric motor on each of the front wheels and a third electric motor on the rear axle, it reaches speeds from zero to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and to 200 km/h in 7.0 seconds. and we went above 350 km/h.

The 825 hp (606 kW) 6.5-liter V12 naturally aspirated engine roars above 9,000 rpm on the slopes behind our heads, while the three electric motors hiss along with it. Slightly narrower and lower than its equally long predecessor, the Aventador, the Revuelto is 160 kilograms heavier and, despite rear-axle steering, can hardly disguise this on the racetrack. The slight extra weight comes at the expense of the new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, lithium-ion battery and three electric motors on board. All of these positively affect consumption. There is no official WLTP data yet, but with a reduction of around 35 percent, the Revuelto’s consumption will be around 12.5 liters per 100 kilometers, despite significantly more power.

Crazy cornering speeds possible

We can use the four small rotary controls on the steering wheel to select driving modes (Cittá, Strada, Sport and Corsa) and battery programs (Recharge, Hybrid, Performance) and, if necessary, raise the nose of the vehicle and adjust the gear. angle of the rear spoiler. Mohr explains to us: “The drive has up to 13 different basic settings. For example, in Performance the maximum power is 180 HP (electric Cittá), 886 HP (Strada), 907 HP (Sport) and a total of 1015 HP (Corsa) depending on the driving mode.” varies between.”

Thanks to its significantly higher downforce than the Aventador, the Revuelto always sticks safely to the asphalt with its improved aerodynamics, even in incredibly fast corners on the Vallelunga circuit. Rouven Mohr explains: “We limit the intervention of the stability control system to the maximum and avoid selective wheel braking, which makes the ride less and less smooth.” Featuring electronically generated torque vectoring and exceptionally good grip, Bridgestone Potenza sports tires measure 265/35/20 at the front and 345/30/21 at the rear.

We’re impressed after our day in the fastest Lamborghini at the moment. It’s impressive how the Italians have managed to combine the old emotional world of the internal combustion engine with modern electric technology in the new Revuelto. But Lamborghini’s progress also comes at a price: The new one will cost around 540,000 francs (the price is not official yet). This means that it is significantly higher than its predecessor, the Aventador, not only in terms of technology but also in price.
