Pixel 8, Google’s phone that wants to conquer AI

The final result is flawless as long as the body of the photographed remains in the same pose in all frames, because if they change it is noticeable that the position of the body and face do not match perfectly.

The AI also lets you switch a photo to portrait mode with one click, or change the type of light in a photo in general, among other options.

Although the most radical changes can be made with the Magic Eraser, a tool that allows you to select something in a photo and erase or camouflage it.

In the delete option, the app usually suggests deleting people in the background, but the user can select any part of the photo and delete it in seconds.

This edition is more complex, so the result is not so flawless. It works pretty well if the people or objects you want to eliminate are in front of a simple background – like the sky or a smooth wall – but it’s pretty obvious that editing has taken place if the background is more complex – like a staircase.

On the other hand, the camouflage edition removes the color from the selected area so that it does not attract as much attention in the photo.

Unlike fully AI-generated images, this type of retouching doesn’t have any kind of watermark, but it leaves a mark in the image’s metadata, according to Rick Osterloh, vice president of devices and services, he said at the roundtable.

Osterloh compared these fast editing tools to more complex tools like Photoshop.

The Pixel 8 Pro also has new cameras: a larger ultra-wide lens that offers improved macro focus; a telephoto lens that captures 56% more light than the Pixel 7 Pro and a front camera with autofocus “for better ‘selfies’.”

Goodbye to ambient sound
Google AI can also be used on this phone for video editing. Audio Magic Eraser allows users to easily reduce ambient sound in a video, such as the wind or a dog barking.

AI can also remove ambient sound from calls, so the caller on the Pixel 8 can clearly hear their user, even if they’re in a noisy place.

Google’s goal is for Pixel users to be able to access its generative AI chatbot, Bard, so it can help them at all times, even with complex questions like: What email didn’t I answer today or where and what time is the appointment with the doctor who was confirmed to me by email and how to reach him.

However, this technology is not available yet, but according to Google, it will be coming to the Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8 soon.

While they wait for this feature, users can use Google’s artificial intelligence on English-language websites to request a summary of information, translate the page into another language, or even find where to buy clothing similar to those on the website. photos from the web.

AI answers unwanted calls
Google assures that thanks to the Call Screen tool, users will receive “50% less ‘spam’ or unwanted calls.”

This app can go a step further and allow AI to answer those calls.

When you answer the phone, the AI ”voice” introduces itself as Google Assistant and asks the reason for the call.

Meanwhile, the user can simultaneously read the conversation and provide written instructions that will be spoken by Google’s AI, which has a male “voice.”
