That’s how good the players are in the new FIFA game* – and the Swiss for comparison

*It’s no longer called FIFA, but no one knows the abbreviation EAFC anymore.

EA has released the latest version of its football video game (formerly FIFA). This is how the best players in the world and Switzerland are rated.

The new FIFA game will be in stores today, Friday, even though it is no longer called FIFA, but rather EA Sports FC. The price is between approximately 53 francs (Nintendo Switch) and 75 francs (Playstation/Xbox). You can read here whether it is worth buying the football game this year.

But of course we are also interested in how the players are rated – with a focus on the top international players, the best Swiss footballers and the best players in the Swiss Super League.

International stars

It is not surprising that Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland are at the international top. They are rated 91, as is Man City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne. Lionel Messi is considered the fourth best player even after his move to MLS.

Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois is the only goalkeeper to feature in football’s top fifteen. The assessments of Karim Benzema (90) and Virgil van Dijk (89) are unlikely to meet with universal understanding.

Swiss player

The Swiss contingent in the new football match is led by Gregor Kobel. With a rating of 87 (place 32), he is the only Swiss to reach the international top 50. When it comes to goalkeepers, the BVB player finishes in seventh place, ahead of Gianluigi Donnarumma, Manuel Neuer and Wojciech Szczesny.

Yann Sommer follows Kobel three points behind. The best Swiss field players are Fabian Schär, Manuel Akanji and Granit Xhaka, all with a rating of 82. However, Xherdan Shaqiri is no longer in the top 15 of Swiss players. With a rating of 75, the MLS player is still behind compatriots such as Marwin Hitz, Noah Okafor, Roman Bürki and Kevin Mbabu (all 76).

Super League player

In the Super League, a quartet with a rating of 76 is at the top: FCB goalkeeper Marwin Hitz, YB striker Jean-Pierre Nsame and the two wingers Renato Steffen and Miroslav Stevanovic from Lugano and Servette. Otherwise, it is not surprising that master YB dominates: seven players from the top 15 of the Super League come from Bern. (abu)
