Google presents itself this way today:
Exactly 25 years ago, on September 15, 1997, the Internet domain www.google.com was registered. However, the company was only founded on September 4 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin in a garage.
The two students from Stanford University developed the search engine ‘BackRub’ in 1996. Their idea is revolutionary: classify websites based on the number of links pointing to them. This system, called “PageRank”, is still used by Google. In 2004, Google went public and became one of the most valuable companies in the world.
The company employs more than 100,000 people worldwide and has estimated revenues of more than $250 billion.
So there’s actually a reason to celebrate.
