Windows crashes: Microsoft withdraws faulty update

Microsoft had to pull an update after an increase in Windows crashes. The problem probably only occurs with a specific piece of hardware.

Blue screen of death: Because Windows 11 users crashed after installing the KB5029351 update, Microsoft withdrew the update. Hardware manufacturer MSI reports this on its website.

Users with the company’s motherboards likely experienced issues after the update. Specifically, it concerns owners of the motherboards from the 600 and 700 series, it says.

“MSI has received multiple reports from users experiencing a blue screen of death with the error ‘UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR’ after installing the Windows 11 update KB5029351,” the manufacturer writes. Together with Microsoft, they are currently investigating the cause of the error.

What can affected users do? According to MSI, the update should automatically uninstall itself on Windows 11 if the problem occurs.
