The station wagon segment may have lost many customers to the ubiquitous SUVs. But they’re usually ahead when it comes to loading volume. Because family carriers with large flaps – unlike upright SUVs – extend longitudinally, the optional third row of seats takes up no space and is often as versatile as a minivan, with folding and folding rear seats. When Mercedes’ first T model appeared in the 1970s, the fan base groaned: A starry craftsman’s car? When it comes to interior space, this model is unrivaled: with a loading volume of 660 to 1950 litres, the recently revised Skoda Superb Combi easily takes first place. What’s surprising: Even when it comes to backseat space, it’s just the Rolls-Royce Phantom and Co. it can deceive. Not available as an off-road version. Between 150 HP (110 kW) and station wagons, the charging winner is offered with prices starting from CHF 50,620.
