Rinaldo Linder, what brings a seasoned auto professional to the newly founded Carvolution and what is your role as a sales consultant?
Rinaldo Linder, Sales Manager of Carvolution: I previously worked in the automotive industry. Later, I came to Carvolution through a friend. And I’ve been here for over 4 years. As a sales consultant, I advise both new and existing clients. I also optimize sales and communication processes and support my colleagues with coaching.
what is your background?
I am a trained car fitter, but went into sales early and was, among other things, a store manager. After taking a detour into the telecommunications industry, I was drawn back into the automotive industry as I saw the future in car subscriptions.
From where?
The car subscription is simply a great product. Anyone who needs a car in their daily life and doesn’t want to worry about the costs or the car itself has a great alternative to leasing and buying with Carvolution. We don’t sell cars, we sell a simple, flexible and inexpensive way to own a car.
Critics say the car subscription is expensive. What do you call this?
I’m not in a hurry and I’m calculating with customers. It goes without saying that the monthly fixed price is attractive. People should do their own calculations. In some cases, however, it is sufficient to state that the subscription covers full insurance, taxes, maintenance and tires. Then the price-performance ratio is understood, which makes the difference in rental clear.
Can you really compare this?
Yes, if you carefully compare the total costs with a three-year lease, for example, you can quickly see how much you can save with a car subscription. The Audi Q2 is currently available from Carvolution by subscription at CHF 710 per month for three years. At first glance, this seems expensive. However, if you calculate exactly how much the same car will cost in a rental – that is, not only the rental fee, but also insurance, taxes, service, tires and a down payment – this is around 1052 francs per month. It is immediately clear that the car subscription is attractively priced. We even have a best price guarantee for those who doubt.

Where can leasing be the solution?
When someone wants a very special car that we don’t sell, I recommend renting it. We use our volume to get good conditions to get our price advantages. That’s why we can’t offer every car, but we focus on around 50 models from various brands.
What is the cheapest way to buy your own car?
Carvolution only offers cars that are new or in top condition. Only those who drive an old car drive cheaper. For example, if you buy a used car with a lot of mileage and drive it for a relatively long time, you can certainly keep your costs very low for the moment. However, the question of how long it will take before a repair is necessary remains unanswered.
Why should I only use it temporarily instead of owning a car?
It can be compared to renting an apartment. Not everyone buys an apartment or house. There is a right time for every concept in life. Today, you are less dependent on the same vehicle and therefore change cars more often. The biggest advantage of the car subscription is, of course, that Carvolution takes care of everything about the car. We use it, customers just pay their monthly bills, which includes everything but fuel. And finally, you don’t have to worry about resale value.
You are at the forefront of your mission: What worries customers most?
Many questions are about how the car subscription works. It’s usually about cost. But it’s really fun as we have the best price guarantee and cost comparisons. Because people are prepared, calculate the total cost and can see how much they save each month. From then on, people are mainly concerned with the prospect of the new car.
Why are compact SUVs so popular?
They offer space, but you can still find a parking spot. You sit higher and you get the impression that you have a better view of the surroundings. When it comes to older people, they also want boarding and disembarking.
Is there a separation pain when returning the subscription cars?
Yes, that happens. But since the next car subscription is usually taken right away, anticipation of new cars prevails.
What are the most common defects during returns?
Wheels are the most common. But luckily we have a good solution here. We had good experiences with a flat rate of CHF 300 per broken rim. The flat rate is also reduced according to the age of the vehicle. Otherwise, parking damage was often an issue in the past, but now almost all customers opt for supplemental insurance.
Carvolution has about 50 cars on offer: from small cars to the 911 Porsche Carrera. Do you have a “favorite car”?
Personally, I think the Audi Q2 is great right now, so I often use it as an example. However, as our product range is constantly changing and new models and brands are added, I do not like to tie myself to one vehicle.
Rinaldo Linder, what car do you actually drive?
I use different cars to get to know our brands well and to give good advice to our customers. Personally, I still have an old Volvo. (laughs).
