Now Fiat is getting serious about the transition to electromobility, too. The Fiat 500e has already made a successful start to the Italian electric age. Now the cool Citystromer has a younger sister in Topolino and an older brother at 600e. The Topolino is designed as a city-centre-only vehicle and carries the drive of Citroën Ami and Opel Rocks-e. The design of the 2.53 meter long electric model for the city center is reminiscent of the legendary Topolino, the original model of the Fiat 500 from the 1930s.
The electric successor to the 500X
The 500’s older brother looks much more mature with the Fiat 600e. The design is based on the internal combustion model, the 500X, but has been refreshed with familiar details from the 500e. The 4.17-metre-long 600e uses Stellantis group drive, which also powers other models from brands such as Peugeot and Opel. A 156 hp (115 kW) electric motor drives the front axle; A 54 kilowatt-hour battery pack provides a range of 400 kilometers before the Citystromer has to return to the charging station. Here the electric 600 can refuel with a maximum of 100 kilowatts on the DC fast charger before the journey continues.
More comfort and assistance systems
Inside is the well-known service and space for up to five people. Behind the power tailgate, up to 360 liters of luggage can be accommodated in the trunk with double loading floors. The rear seats can be folded in a 3:2 ratio, so larger items can be loaded into the 600e when needed. Not only seat heating, but also a massage function for the driver’s seat, keyless start and various storage spaces ensure comfort in the Fiat 600e. There are also driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning, LED headlights and a 10.25-inch (approximately 26 centimeters) central display in the center of the dashboard.
The first deliveries to customers are expected this September in two equipment lines: the more expensive top version “La Prima” and the cheaper entry-level variant “Red”. 600e should be available for the equivalent of about 40,000 francs.
