This is a paid post brought to you by Abarth.

From the point of view of die-hard car fans, electric cars have one major drawback: they don’t make engine noise. The characteristic humming love that applies even more to Abarth’s typhoid, known for its very typical voice. But the makers of the first all-electric Abarth model, the 500e, quickly made up for this with a special sound generator. About the new electric speedster, Abarth CEO Olivier François said: “Better acceleration, better handling and more fun – and then there’s Abarth’s legendary signature – sound!” says.

The standard onboard sound generator faithfully reproduces the sound of the legendary “Scorpion brand” – so model-specific emotions continue to be triggered in the driver. And it’s not just inside the car: the sound can be heard in the rear of the car via speakers, just like on the internal combustion engine predecessor.

Music producer Mondetto loves car sounds

Hip-hop producer Mondetto (27) takes a close look at how this 155-hp plug-in powerhouse (0 to 100 in 7 seconds) sounds. Of Italian descent, Aarauer has been a music freak since childhood and has learned skills like beat production, mixing and vocal recording on his own using the appropriate software.

Today he works for numerous artists from Switzerland and Germany. He says: “I’m a fan of sound design. For me, if you can add sounds to a beat, it’s almost as great an art as someone playing chords.” He also used engine sounds in his work. “But I never made a whole melody out of it. I’m out of what happens next!”

The melody composed in just 35 minutes

The challenge of creating a rhythm out of Abarth sounds is perfect for a 27-year-old. And that’s a challenge at its best: Mondetto only has 35 minutes to create his voice—that’s what the Abarth 500e needs to charge up to 80 percent of its electric battery in the charging station.
