Fabio Daprela (32) held his own for FC Lugano for six years and orchestrated the defense. The end of the season is over, his farewell has already been communicated, the farewell dinner has already been digested.

The big farewell party, however, should have been in Bern on Sunday at the cup final. But the highlight of the season takes place without the Zurich player. Muscle problems sidelined him. “It’s a pity I can’t play,” says a disappointed Daprela, “the cup final would have been the perfect farewell game after six great and successful years in Lugano.”

“I will have to suffer more in the stands”

Instead of standing on the field, he now sits in the stands in Wankdorf, keeping his fingers crossed for his soon-to-be ex-teammates. “I know I will suffer more than if I played.”

His footballing future seems clear. According to information from Blick, Daprela should sign with FCZ soon, if he has not already done so. He doesn’t want to talk about it (yet).
