Sergio Rico’s condition is still “poor but stable”.

Sergio Rico (29) is fighting for his life in the University Hospital of Seville. On Sunday, the Spanish PSG goalkeeper suffered a horse riding accident, a cerebral hemorrhage and has been in an artificial coma ever since.

Wife Alba Silva (29), who shows her emotions in an Instagram post, has to go through all of this: “Don’t leave me alone, my love, because I don’t know how to live without you.” Their son was born last November and the couple will celebrate their first wedding anniversary on June 11. “We are waiting for you, we love you more than anything.”

Condition “poor but stable”

As the Virgen del Rocío Hospital announced on Wednesday, the footballer is “in a serious but stable condition”. This has not changed in the past 72 hours, which is why Rico remains under observation in intensive care.

Eyewitnesses from the rescue service, who treated the keeper for the first time on Sunday morning, reported that Rico received several blows to the head from a horse’s hoof when he fell off his horse. Earlier there had been a collision with his horse and a runaway horse when he was on his way to a fair, his family said.

Just a few hours before his accident, Rico celebrated his eleventh championship title with his Parisian teammates. So far, the third-choice goalkeeper has made 24 appearances for PSG, but has never played this season. After Saturday’s last game, there will be no championship party, as coach Christophe Galtier (56), struggling for words, declared on Thursday: “It’s been a difficult week.” (che)
