Just minutes after Bayern’s 11th league title in a row, it was announced that CEO Oliver Kahn (53) and sports director Hasan Salihamidzic (46) were no longer on Säbener Strasse. For honorary chairman Uli Hoeness (71) the decision was inevitable.

Compared to the “kicker,” Hoeness says, “We would have acted like this for three titles, the decision had to be made like this.” It is common knowledge that things have gone wrong at Bayern this season. Hoeness has already found the culprit for this.

Hoeness admits mistakes

Although Kahn is “a very intelligent man” with whom “the exchange is fun”. But the decision to make Kahn CEO was, in hindsight, a mistake.

“The big disappointment is that I thought he could get the job done on his own because of his personality, but instead he surrounded himself with his advisors,” Hoeness said.

Advisors were concerned

These very consultants, who worked in the background, were responsible for “the catastrophically bad mood” and the lack of motivation in the club. The image of the great FC Bayern has suffered a lot this season. The southern curve and ultras have made it clear to the club that things cannot go on like this.

Nevertheless, Hoeness has “a lot of respect” for Kahn: “As a player he has done a lot. Even if he has not lived up to expectations as CEO, my door is always open for Oliver.” Hoeness does the balancing act, then explains why Kahn was absent from the season finale in Cologne.

Calm must return to Bayern

The reason was the divorce conversation. “It wasn’t a pleasant conversation,” Hoeness said. As Salihamidzic took the message, Kahn verbally fired at new CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen. A no-go for Hoeness and Co. Kahn even denied being a “freak” on Twitter.

Now you want peace in the club and “not the last total hectic,” says Hoeness. When looking for a new team leader, you want to take your time. Bayern also does not want to commit to a certain profile. (jsl)
