In Latvia, after the sensational bronze medal of the national ice hockey team at the World Cup, the parliament has declared Monday a public holiday without further ado.
The Saeima parliament in the capital Riga made a similar decision in the course of the night. This is in honor of the historic success and to enable residents of rural areas to welcome the Latvian team home. The team of the co-hosts of the World Cup will be received at the Freedom Monument in Riga in the early afternoon after returning from Tampere.
