Bayern are champions again.

It continues to simmer in Munich. At the joint championship celebration with the women – who managed to secure the title under the eyes of the men’s team – according to SportBild, some players left the field before Thomas Müller (33) spoke. Honorary chairman Uli Hoeness (71) was completely absent from the party – and Hasan Salihamidzic (46) was allowed to celebrate one last time.

Meanwhile, coach Thomas Tuchel (49) dismisses speculation that he could retire given the turbulent events surrounding the firing of boss Oliver Kahn (53) and sports director Salihamidzic, along with chairman Herbert Hainer (68).

In addition, Tuchel hopes for an end to the ongoing internal quarrels at Bayern Munich. “It would be nice if things calmed down and we could concentrate on the sport, because we have plenty to do,” said the coach on the sidelines of the championship celebration at Sky. The 2021 Champions League winner has a contract until 2025. But he also confessed that Kahn and Salihamidzic’s divorce “wasn’t that easy to deal with” for him as the duo brought him to Bayern.

“We want to improve at all levels,” the coach explains: “We want to be a unit, with a family feeling, protect ourselves from other opinions and build a group of cars – only then can we demand everything from the players.”

In the few weeks of his tenure in Munich, he has “been through a lot,” Tuchel said, adding with a smile: “We’ll see if everything is okay.” His specific sporting goals: his team must “play better, more dominant, more consistent and inspire the fans”. (AFP/nsa)
