Aldin Turkes (27) went to the hairdresser to get a special haircut for the promotion of Lausanne. The striker appears in the Brügglifeld with a daring braided head of hair. “All my teammates told me I looked like the singer Sean Paul,” Turkes laughed after the game. “I think it suits me pretty well. I wanted to make a mark.”

With the 2:2 in Aarau, Lausanne provides an immediate revival. Turkes does not play and then reveals that he is not going to make it to the Super League. “It’s my last game for Lausanne-Sport,” the 27-year-old tells Blick.

The most formative striker of recent years is leaving Lausanne. Since 2019, Turkes has scored 34 times in 68 appearances for the Vaud. When he climbed in 2020, he formed a strong storm duo with Andi Zeqiri.

A terrible knee injury

The centre-forward’s career was halted in Lugano in December 2020 by a horrific knee injury. A complex injury that kept him off the field for nearly two years. In the autumn he made a spectacular comeback when he knocked out the then champion FCZ with a brace in the cup.

But then a dry period followed. Turkes has had to settle for just 14 league matches, often coming off the bench. He has remained goalless since that ominous September 18 against FC Zurich.

“That’s the only thing I regret,” he explains. “I’m disappointed that I didn’t get much playing time, that I couldn’t show what I can do anymore. But those are the decisions of the coach and I respect them.”

Turkes has not yet announced where the former FCZ junior will continue his career. “The most important thing is that I am 100 percent fit again. I will announce my next club in the coming days or weeks.”

Lausanne forever in his heart

If he could only remember one memory from his four years at Lausanne-Sport, what would it be? “It’s impossible to keep just one,” he says. “I’ve been through so many ups and downs, with the two climbs, but also with the serious injury. I’ve had four great years in Lausanne. This city and this club will always remain in my heart.”
