Roman Röösli and Andrin Gulich again sing the Swiss national anthem at the European Rowing Championships in Bled (Sln). The duo wins the gold medal in the double sculls thanks to a strong final sprint.
Rössli and Gulich, who have only been teaming up since this season, only pass the British boat in the last meters and finally triumph in the photo finish one tenth of a second ahead of them.
On Saturday, Raphaël Ahumada/Jan Schäuble secured the first Swiss European Championship title in rowing since 2018 in a lightweight double scull.
Silver for debutante Janzen
Aurelia-Maxima Janzen rounds off the strong Swiss performance by winning the silver medal in single sculls. The only 19-year-old was only beaten on Lake Bled by world champion Karolien Florijn from the Netherlands and immediately made it to the podium in her first title fights with the elite. Switzerland thus wins a complete set of medals on Sunday, because before that Andri Struzina rowed to bronze in the lightweight singles.
Switzerland closed the European Championship with two gold, one silver and one bronze medal. (SDA)
